Will and estate advice needed....?

I need some advice on whether my mother can decide to make me move from a house that i grew up in all my life. She and my father were divorced a few years ago. About a year and some months ago, my father died unfortunately. He signed his life estate part over to me, as where my mother has the other half of the life estate. This was a life estate to both of them, when they got married. Mother just recently decided, she wants to move in and she will have somebody come and stay with her, that my friend and i and dog and cat, will just have to find another place to live eventually. That takes a lot of time, and she is already in what they call assisted living for the elderly. I don't feel i should have to move. He signed (notarized), the estate over to me (his part). What do i do? Sorry, but i need advice! Going to a lawyer, they told me, sorry but when your dad died, his part of the life estate died with him, it's no good! How is that possible, when others i have spoken with, tell me i have just as much right, as the other does.
